A touch up
The world cannot have enough free photo editors. There's always a feature missing here or there. Well, if you were thinking this was it, then I'm sorry to burst your bubble. No application is perfect, but some are pretty good.Anyway this one does a good job at retouching and applying effects.
Out of many possible features, the Photo! Editor team picked a handful they though people will find useful and or fun.
Photo! Editor has some useful tools for portraits. Fix Red Eye is present as it should be. Make Up is a collection of five healing brushes that deal with different kinds of imperfections. There is also Caricature, which is basically a pinch tool. Co lour manipulation is done globally either via individual sliders for hue, contrast, saturation et caetera or with the use of a variation preview (a grid of thumbs showing different variations of the same picture). Denoise and Deblur can be used to give a picture the perfect clean look.
Lighting is an interesting feature that allows you to add a number of lighting modifications to a picture. You can apply them to an area, directional spot or parallel (which I don't find as fun as the others). This or either use suggested variations like before.
Images may also be rotated by 90 degrees or adjusted slightly with the Strengthen tool. Re-sampling and Cropping are also available. Too bad there is no batch editing feature. You need to manually re-sample every picture unfortunately. Oh wait, they say there is. Select multiple pictures in the embedded file manager, right click and select the tool you want. Since right clicking opens a blank contextual menu, I have yet to try it.
- Red Eye removal
- Color enhancement
- Noise removal
- Pinching (Caricature)
- Healing brushes
- Simple interface
- Good features
- Faulty batch editing
- The file manager is slow and doesn't show everything all the time
Photo! Editor is a pretty good tool for low and mid level editing.
